PICTURED: Scene of devastation as train hits tractor near Knaresborough

An investigation is underway today after a train hit a tractor near Knaresborough yesterday evening.

The tractor driver was taken to hospital with what was described as ‘very minor injuries’. He was one of three people taken to hospital.


The collision happened on the A59 near Flaxby at around 6.30pm yesterday evening.

Around 60 people on the train, which was travelling between Leeds and York, were unhurt after the crash. The road was closed, but then reopened and most of the passengers were taken by coach to York and other stations.
